[Workout Wednesday] Gentle Detox Yoga Flow

Try this gentle detox yoga flow sequence to help support your New Year’s detox program goals…
The excesses of the holidays can leave you feeling sluggish, bloated, and unhealthy. This is why starting the year off with a cleanse or detox is so popular. Whether you go on a full detox diet, do a juice fast, or just try to eat cleaner to start off the new year is up to you, but regardless of which method you choose, you will want to make sure you are drinking plenty of water and getting plenty of exercise to help your body truly cleanse and detoxify.
However, working out while on a detox can be challenging. Changing your eating habits drastically – and especially fasting – can leave you feeling a bit tired, grumpy, or low in energy – not exactly in the mood for a hard workout. But maintaining your fitness routine during a cleanse is important, not only to keep you on track to achieving your goals but also to help your body release and excrete toxins. And, contrary to what it might feel like when you start, exercising can actually help to boost your energy levels and improve your mood!
Just make sure to pay attention to how you feel, and pick a workout that will help you feel good, rather than leaving you feeling exhausted and depleted. Try walking the dog rather than jogging, playing badminton or tennis with the kids rather than hitting the weight room, or do lower-intensity workouts like yoga, water aerobics, or Tai Chi. Restorative yoga is especially good, or try the gentle beginner detox yoga sequence shown in the video below.
Hold each pose for 3 breaths, and then repeat on the other side.
