Setting & Keeping Up with Your Self-Care Goals

Setting some self-care goals for the New Year? Here are a few helpful ideas to keep you on track!
As we enter the new year, many people are thinking about their health and well-being while creating self-care goals for the year ahead. However, while creating goals is one thing, sticking to them is another, but we are here to help! At the Holistic Health Wire, we love to help people live their best and healthiest lives, so we have some ideas for goals you can set and ways that you can stick to them throughout the new year. Here are a few tips to consider:
Improve Your Career Goals By Going Back to School
Since we are at work for a third of our lives, it is only natural that you should want to be happy and feel fulfilled when you are at your job. If you are not, then it is time to make a change. Going back to school can be one way to discover a career that you are passionate about. If you are crunched for time or busy with life, then you can return to school by getting your degree online.
If you don’t believe how beneficial online classes can be, then take a look at this. By going to an online school, you can get a degree in a variety of subjects. For example, if you are interested in education, then you can learn about early childhood education or get your bachelor of science degree. Plus, you can take these classes at any time, day or night, so that you can fit it into your schedule. In the end, you will still get the same great degree as those who go to college in person.
Take Time to Clean & Organize Everything
As we head into the new year, you can start to feel better by cleaning and decluttering your home. When your house is messy, it can bring you down because subconsciously, you can start to feel like you are losing control of your surroundings, and it can make you feel stressed and anxious when you should be comfortable in your own home. Make a goal of decluttering your entire house by breaking it down room by room and get rid of anything you no longer need, and consider donating it to charity.
Once you have cleaned up the big stuff, you can start to vacuum, dust, and mop to make your house clean and comfortable. In addition to being less stressed, when you clean, you also rid the home of allergens and dust mites that can make you sick. In order to vacuum properly, you will need to clean the filter at least every other time you vacuum. Some filters can be cleaned with water, while others can be shaken out. By taking a few moments to maintain your vacuum, you can ensure that you have a clean and healthy home.
Exercising, Losing Weight, and Setting Small Goals
When it comes to self-care, many people think about creating a plan to exercise more or lose weight, and while these are great aspirations, you need to take them one step at a time, or you can quickly feel defeated. When it comes to exercise, remember that your goal doesn’t need to be to run a marathon right away. Instead, if you don’t exercise often, then try to fit in 20 minutes a day every morning to just run around the block and see how you improve over time. Then, eventually, you will get to that marathon.
The same goes for eating right and losing weight. Yes, you should set weight loss goals, but they shouldn’t be too lofty right away. Instead of saying you want to lose 100 pounds in two months, set smaller goals that you know you can accomplish, like losing 5 pounds per month. That way, once you accomplish your goal, you will have the ambition to continue.
As you can see, there are many goals that you can set for yourself that will allow you to practice better self-care and live a healthier life in the year ahead. Consider returning to school, cleaning and decluttering your home, and setting realistic fitness goals, and you will be off to a great start!
