Summer is in full swing, and between vacations, pool parties, and backyard barbecues, there are plenty of fun activities to enjoy this season. But nothing can put a stop to your summer fun like back pain. I have plenty of experience with back pain myself, and I know I’m not alone. My husband and I were just talking this morning about what a large percentage of Americans suffer from back pain on a regular basis.
The culprit? While there are a number of things to blame (weak muscles, obesity, etc.), for the most part it comes down to our sedentary lifestyle. Not only do we get far less exercise than many other countries (where walking or biking is the norm, rather than driving a car), but we also sit for more hours per day at our jobs, take fewer vacations, and watch way more TV.
The result is an epidemic of back pain. And bad back pain can be downright crippling – if you’ve ever experienced it, you know what I mean!
