A steaming cup of hot chocolate is the perfect way to enjoy a cozy winter evening! These two superfood hot chocolate recipes put a healthy twist on this classic hot beverage, with the addition of “superfoods” like cacao, Goji, and Acai powder. They’re just as delicious, but better for you!

These recipes are great for those who can’t consume dairy or are following a vegan diet, but you can feel free to substitute regular whole milk if that’s more your style. You can also opt to make these beverage a bit more “adult” if you like, with the addition of some spirits to help warm you up even more. 🙂

Dairy-Free Spiked Hot Chocolate Recipe

Yield: 2 servings
Total Time: 10 minutes

  1. In a small saucepan combine the oat milk, antioxidant blend, maple syrup, espresso powder, and salt. Whisk together, then bring to a simmer over medium, stirring often.
  2. Remove from heat and whisk in the liqueur if using.
  3. Pour into 2 mugs, top with a scoop of coconut whipped cream and a dusting of antioxidant blend, and serve.

Vegan Mint Hot Chocolate Recipe

Yield: 2 servings
Total Time: 10 minutes

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan combine the macadamia milk, mint sprigs, maple syrup, and salt. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  2. Remove from heat and whisk in the mushroom powder, peppermint schnapps, cacao powder, and vanilla extract.
  3. Strain through a fine mesh strainer into 2 mugs, discarding the mint sprigs.
  4. Garnish with an extra mint sprig, a dusting of cacao powder, and a sprinkle of cacao nibs and serve.
