[Foodie Friday Recipe] Kale & Apple Green Detox Smoothie

Treat your body right with this healthy & detoxifying kale & apple green detox smoothie recipe…
If you’re kicking off the New Year with a detox or a cleanse, or even if you’re just trying to eat cleaner this year, a detox smoothie can be a great way to go. One of the best ways to support your body’s natural detoxification efforts is by eating plenty of clean, fresh, healthy whole foods – namely fruits and veggies. While there are lots of ways to enjoy these foods, smoothies make it easy to consume a whole bunch of nutrients all at once – especially handy if you’re on the go all the time.
Another benefit of smoothies is that – just like salads – you can put just about anything in them – you’re only limited by your creativity! Choose your favorite fruits and veggies, add protein if you like, include juice, yogurt, dairy or non-dairy milks, or whatever works for your dietary needs and your detox goals. Then throw everything in the blender, blend it up, and you’re good to go!
Below is an example of a delicious detox smoothie that includes the “superfood” kale (rich in protein as well as vitamins C and K, kale also contains sulforaphane, which may help prevent cancer), as well as celery (high in numerous vitamins and minerals, and it also reduces inflammation and supports digestion), flax seed (a good source of healthy fats, antioxidants, and fiber), and apple (high in fiber and antioxidants, apples also support healthy gut bacteria, reduce diabetes risk, and more).
Enjoy!
