5 Natural Skincare Tips to Prevent Signs of Aging

Prevent the signs of aging & maintain healthy skin as you grow older with these natural skincare tips…

Aging skin is inevitable as you grow older, but there are certain things you can do in order to slow down the process and keep your skin looking youthful! While living a healthy lifestyle has many benefits, younger looking skin is one big one for many people. Here are 5 things you can do – starting right now – to protect your skin and prevent signs of aging.

1. Stop Smoking

If you smoke, quitting will have many health benefits, but one of the most visible from the outside will be the quality of your skin. Smoking increases the rate at which your skin begins to age and form wrinkles, but it’s never too late to give up smoking!

2. Drink Plenty of Water

Drinking water is one of the best things you can do in order to keep your skin looking good. Not only does it help people of all ages when it comes to maintaining clear skin, but if you’re trying to protect your skin against aging, it helps by increasing elasticity and keeping your skin looking healthy and youthful. (You should be drinking plenty of water no matter how old you are, since it helps with a whole variety of health problems, not just aging skin.)

3. Eat More Plants

You don’t have to go vegan, but getting plenty of plant-based foods in your diet can go a long way toward protecting your skin. Vegetables and fruits have lots of of vitamins and nutrients which fulfill a wide range of your body’s needs – including improving skin health. Plants are full of anti-oxidants too, which will help your skin to stay fresh and clear.

4. Be Gentle

For men, harsh shaving on a regular basis can cause their skin to show signs of aging more quickly as it can dry and stress your skin. Limit the number of times you shave, and use a shaving foam or cream which is gentle on your skin. Both women and men should use skincare products which are gentle on the skin and made with natural ingredients.

5. Protect Your Skin from the Weather

Of course, there’s no way to avoid the weather. Being exposed to extreme heat or extreme cold can stress and dry the skin, causing redness, dryness, wrinkles, and sun damage. Using sunscreen can help, but even if you wear sunscreen, you should wear a hat and try to avoid being out in the sun when it is very strong during mid-day in the summer months.

By implementing these natural skincare tips, eating a healthy diet, and getting plenty of exercise and sleep, not only will your skin look younger and healthier, but so will the rest of your body!
