4 Reasons to Use Herbs & Natural Remedies

Herbal and natural remedies are becoming more popular in recent years. Here are 4 important reasons why…

With more and more people becoming aware of the shortcomings and side effects of pharmaceutical drugs, more people are turning to the use of herbs and natural remedies to help support their health and the health of their families.

Before you start making your own herbal remedies, you should seek the help of a qualified herbalist, and take the time to study and learn how to use specific herbs and other remedies, as well as when you should turn to modern medicine. There are a number of good online courses to help you learn what you need to know to use these remedies safely. Some of our favorites are the Living Awareness/Herbal Kitchen courses from Kami McBride, the Learning Herbs courses, and Home Medicine 101 and others from the Grow Network.

On this podcast, Marjorie Wildcraft from The Grow Network discusses some of the benefits of using herbal and natural remedies, how to know when to seek conventional medical help, and a list of the ailments and issues that are easy and safe to treat at home using natural remedies.

Here are 4 reasons why Marjorie says it’s important to learn to use herbal and natural remedies for yourself:

1. Know how to care for your family if the healthcare system fails

I don’t think people realize how fragile the healthcare system is. There is no capacity in the hospitals. They’re running as efficiently as they can, but if there’s any sort of outbreak of anything, the parking lot of the hospitals is going to turn into a tent city with people trying to get whatever they can for resources from there. Having your own medicine at home means you hopefully won’t have to deal with any of that if and when the time comes.

2. Avoid the horrible ingredients that are found in some medicines

Have you read the list of ingredients in some cough syrups? It’s like one of the most toxic chemical cocktails on the planet! I think it should be illegal.

3. Treat your loved ones with the care and love they deserve

There’s a much deeper reason than simply being able to treat these things and care for yourself and your loved ones at home. There is also a bond and a joy that comes from being the one to care for and nurse your children back to health.

4. Learn to heal your body naturally, without chemicals or “magic pills”

The other reason it’s important to learn how to use herbs and natural remedies is because I don’t want to have to say “Oh my God, she’s got a fever. I’m going to go rush out to Web MD or run off to somewhere and get some chemicals for her in order to get her fever down.” I don’t want to go down that path.

I want to go down the path where we’re really working together to heal, and where she knows and trusts me as the one who loves her and cares for her and trusts that I’ve got her health and her best interests in mind. So that emotional, loving, bonding time is -for me- the huge value in this.
