It should come as no surprise if you’ve been reading this blog for a while that personal care and beauty products are loaded which chemicals which could be potentially hazardous to your health.

While ingredients are typically “generally recognized as safe” (GRAS) by the FDA, some ingredients aren’t even monitored at all, and even those that are are generally not tested on humans in combination with the other ingredients they may appear in a product with. While one particular ingredient may be “safe” when used by itself, some ingredients combine to form harmful compounds which can cause respiratory illness, reproductive defects, or even cancer.

This is why it is so important to look for products that contain natural and organic ingredients, instead of a long list of chemicals that you can’t even identify! If you do have a bad reaction to a natural ingredient, it is usually easier to identify and avoid.
